London-based artist ROB RYAN studied fine art at Trent Polytechnic and the Royal College of Art in London. Since 2002 he has been using paper cutouts as an artistic technique, and his papercut art is now widely displayed in galleries and museums. His work is highly acclaimed in the United States, and was displayed in New York's Grand Central Terminal from September 2013 as part of the station's yearlong centennial celebrations.
Reflecting his deep concern for human wellbeing, he has designed a decorative floor for a reception and waiting area at the Macmillan Cancer Centre in London's University College Hospital. He has also donated work to many charitable organizations in the medical field, and gave the proceeds from a charity sale to the victims of Japan's 2011 earthquake and tsunami.
Imbued with a unique homemade charm, his intricate and delicate work uses images and words to tell stories filled with whimsy, wit and heartwarming sentimentality.
